Away Up High

Oh, we had so much fun last Friday!  It was APPLE DAY and boy was it a jam-packed day.  What we usually take a whole week to do, we had to squish into one.  Ready?  Here we go...

Who remembers Highlights magazine??
Here is a classic Hidden Picture puzzle.
The students absolutely LOVED this activity.
Who wouldn't?

Then came the day's topper!
Every child who wanted to could memorize and perform the poem of the week:
Away Up High

I couldn't believe how many actually did it!  I was so proud.  Here are Averie, Jadon, Luke, and Jacob.

Ohhhhh, Jacob was really funny.  I have a sound system in the classroom to save amplify
my voice to give each child equal opportunity to hear my instruction no matter
where he/she sits in the classroom.
Brilliant!
Anyway, whenever you speak in the microphone, it is amplified through the
speakers but to me (the speaker) it just sounds normal, like nothing is coming
out...but it its
When Jacob performed he got the giggles because he thought
it wasn't working.  As you will see,
we were all pretty much in stitches by the end of his performance.
So cute.

(by the way...I don't really sound like this.  I was losing my voice.  In fact, by about 6:00 that
evening, I didn't have a voice at all!)

Lunch!

Our first day of school was a day full of new instruction and a lot to learn.
Even now, I look at all the things these children learn every day.
I need to remember that these students need
lots and LOTS of time for it to sink in.
(Now, almost four weeks later, they are still learning so many things)

Well, the first day of lunch went well.
We had to remember all of our lunch numbers, which was kind of hard
because it had been a WHOLE summer to forget them!

Let me praise our lunch ladies at Amelia Earhart Elementary.
Our lunches are no where near the stereotypical school lunches.
They are actually delicious and healthy.
